Ms. Nakashima first leapt to attention soloing in the premier of the
critically acclaimed, international artist and composer Ishmael Wadada
Smith's work of "Ta if" during the 20th Century Composers Festival with
the New Century Chamber Orchestra. In addition, Ms. Nakashima
has appeared as soloist with such orchestras as The New Millenium
Chamber Orchestra in Southern California, and the Lincoln Chamber
in Northern California.
Ms. Nakashima has collaborated, worked, and performed with such
artists as Christian Mc.Bride, Pattie Austin, Peter Erskine, Quincy
Jones, John Clayton, Billy Childs, Dave Grusin, Johnny Mandel, Vince Mendoza, Lee Rintenour,
Hubert Laws, Roy Hardgrove, Roger Kellaway, Elmer Bernstein, Clause Ogerman, and two time
Grammy Award winning composer Patrick Williams.
Ms. Nakashima has performed throughout different parts of the world in major centers, and
concert halls such as, Palacio Andaluz del Embrujo in Sevilla, Teatro Fortuny in Resus, El Escorial
outside of Madrid, Teatro Casino Cereta in Puigcerda, Auditorio de Pozuelo in Pozuelo,
The Alcazar in Madrid, Okayama Symphony Hall in Okayama, Konan Women's College in Kobe,
Taipei's Municiple Hall, The Kaohsiung Cultural Center in Taiwan, Disneyland, Stanford International
Violin Workshop at the University of Stanford, and the Henry Mancini Concert series held
in Royce Hall.
