Ms. Nakashima started violin studies at the age of 4 with Audrey Gray, and Peter Gelfand. At the age of 17, she was invited on scholarship to study her undergrad at the California Institute of the Arts .

 

Ms. Nakashima has gone on to perform throughout different parts of the world in major centers, and concert halls such as, Palacio Andaluz del Embrujo in Sevilla, Teatro Fortuny in Resus, El Escorial outside of Madrid, Teatro Casino Cereta in Puigcerda, Auditorio de Pozuelo in Pozuelo, The Alcazar in Madrid, Okayama Symphony Hall in Okayama, Konan Women's College in Kobe, Taipei's Municiple Hall, The Kaohsiung Cultural Center in Taiwan, Disneyland, Stanford International Violin Workshop at the University of Stanford, and the Henry Mancini Concert series held in Royce Hall.

 

Ms. Nakashima first leapt to attention soloing in the premier of the critically acclaimed, international artist and composer Ishmael Wadada Smith's work of "Ta if" during the 20th Century Composers Festival with the New Century Chamber Orchestra. In addition, Ms. Nakashima as appeared as soloist with such orchestras as The New Millenium Chamber Orchestra in Southern California, and the Lincoln Chamber in Northern California.

 

Ms. Nakashima has collaborated, worked, and performed with such artists as Christian Mc.Bride, Pattie Austin, Peter Erskine, Quincy Jones, John Clayton, Billy Childs, Dave Grusin, Johnny Mandel, Vince Mendoza, Lee Rintenour, Hubert Laws, Roy Hardgrove, Roger Kellaway, Elmer Bernstein, Clause Ogerman, and two-time Grammy Award winning composer Patrick Williams.

Ms. Nakashima started violin studies at the age of 4 with Audrey Gray, and Peter Gelfand. At the age of 17, she was invited on scholarship to study her undergrad at the California Institute of the Arts where she received further extensive training with very close mentors and teachers such as Marc Lowenstein, Allan Vogel, Rachel Rudich, James Tenny, and Elizabeth Baker. Following, Ms. Nakashima had also been invited, and attended the Henry Mancini Institute on full scholarship.

 

Ms. Nakashima teaches violin studies in both Northern and Southern California. She has served as assistant conductor for all of Trace Elementary School's orchestras in Northern California, and now works with different youth music organizations throughout Southern Califorrnia.

 

Ms. Nakashima is currently working on concerts to help raise awareness of chamber music and the arts in Santa Paula, and Santa Clarita with artists Robert Lawson, Allan Vogel, David Johnson, and Bryan Pezzone, playing a collection of the most beloved chamber works in the Classical world such as the Cesar Franck Sonata in A Major, Bela Bartok's Rumanian Folk Dances, and an assortement of Baroque Concertos highlighting Bach and Vivaldi.
