2006-2007 Season This season we continue to increase our offerings as the Symphony presents three concerts at the Performing Arts Center. Masterpiece Series concerts feature symphonies by Sibelius and Mendelssohn. Solo appearances include Bryan Pezzone performing Beethoven’s Concerto no. 4 and Armen Anassian playing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. Additionally, we inaugurate a new program, the first in our Family Concert Series, featuring Peter & the Wolf, Scheherazade, and a performance by a child virtuoso. Supplemental standards-based curriculum is provided for area schools. The Bon Appétit series continues with a sold-out performance, American Sensation, with Bryan Pezzone and clarinetist Deborah Avery moving from Gershwin to Copland, and more. January 2007 featured Philip Vaiman and Robert Edward Thies in A Russian Winter’s Tale. We kicked off our Family Concert Series in January 2007. And more to come! Stay tuned!
2005-2006 Season The Symphony presented 20 events to over 3,000 people, a dramatic increase from four events the previous year. Masterpiece Series increased. Two Masterpiece Series concerts feature works from Vivaldi to Chick Corea, plus café jazz. Three new programs were launched: Bon Appétit dinners combined gourmet food, wine and spectacular music. Piano virtuoso Bryan Pezzone and guest soloists present a French-themed event at Tournament Players Club, Valencia and an Italian-themed event at Robinson Ranch. The monthly Children’s Instrument Petting Zoo begins at Borders – Valencia Town Center. A Symphony professional demonstrates his or her instrument and guides the children as they perform. Quartets & Coffee events: free public concerts given by Symphony chamber groups. 2004 Inaugural concert of the Masterpiece Series at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center. Featured soloist was pianist and International Prokofiev Competition winner Robert Thies, performing the Prokofiev Concerto No. 2. Also featured was Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no. 5. 2002 Symphony’s first performance as part of the City of Santa Clarita’s “Concerts in the Parks” Series. 2001 Symphony received 501 (c)(3) nonprofit designation from IRS 2000 Organization was founded by a group of Santa Clarita citizens dedicated to promoting symphonic music and orchestral literature to the community and its children. |
