"Animals Alive" Family Concert Series NEW DATE ! THIS EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO SATURDAY, APRIL 5th
Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center, 5pm. The Santa Clarita Symphony presents “Animals Alive” Family Concert Saturday, April 5th at 5 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts CenterEach Child To Receive Coloring BookThe 65-minute concert, designed to educate and entertain children, will feature Carnival of the Animals, French composer Camille Saint-Saëns' witty musical salute to feathers, fur, and fin." This zoological program features 14 different movements - each one a different animal - from the first movement of "March of the Royal Lion" through portraits of elephants, donkeys, and swans.
A special guest narrator will charm the young audience with the whimsical verses of Ogden Nash, as child actors (e.g. the animals) from the Santa Clarita School of Performing Arts bring the show to life. During all of this activity the symphony orchestra will demonstrate and explain to children how instruments are playing to characterize the different animals.
Each child in attendance will receive a special Carnival of the Animal Coloring book (courtesy of Union Bank of California) that includes an easy-to-follow listening guide, the musical theme (for the child to see and the parent, music teacher or child to play). The book also includes background on the music and the composer, a guide to the instruments, a glossary of terms, and of course crayons.
The program which also includes Greensleeves, Mozart Concerto No. 3, and Ernest Bloch Piano Concerto Grosso, will feature unique performances by featured virtuoso youth pianists Tyler Linahan and Alex Mansour.

Please join us Thursday, October 18 for another unforgettable evening of incredible food, great wine, and live world-class classical music as the Santa Clarita Symphony's popular Bon Appétit series presents 'Taste of Spain' at Robinson Ranch.
The "Taste of Spain" will present a four-course tasting menu with Spanish influences prepared by Robinson Ranch Executive Chef Tom McNulty paired with exclusive wines from some of the finest Spanish wine regions including Rioja, Ribera Del Duero, Priorat and Penedes along with a most unique musical performance. Award-winning artists from The Santa Clarita Artists' Association (SCAA) will also be on hand exhibiting their original vibrant works of art to enhance the evening.
THE MENU Reception - Garlic Shrimp, Spanish Cheese Puffs, Spanish Fruit and Cheeses 1st Course - TAPAS including Chorizo Empanadas, Tomato Bread Crostini with Braised Spicy Pork, and Paella Croquets 2nd Course - Citrus Frisee Salad with Seared Black Cod 3rd Course - Roasted Rack of Lamb with Asparagus and Artichoke 4th Course - Dessert - Special Spanish Chocolate Dessert THE MUSIC In keeping with the evening's theme, music for the "Taste of Spain" will perform selections from some of Spain's greatest composers including: Fernando Sor (1778-1839); Isaac Albeniz (1860-1909); Francisco Tarrega (1852-1909). Carlos Gonzales, generally accepted as one of the top classical guitarist in the U.S., will be on hand to offer his unique interpretation of these great musical selections. Appearing with Carlos Gonzales will be master flamenco guitarist Robert Boyd. The evening will also include an intimate, up-close flamenco dance performance. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime performance by these two great guitarists.
