Petting Zoo

Children's Instrumental Petting Zoo

ImageThe Children's Instrument Petting Zoo is part of the Symphony's initiative to promote early childhood music education and has brought the excitement of playing orchestral instruments to hundreds of Santa Clarita Valley children.

Children are given the opportunity to hear a professional musician from the symphony play their instrument.  The children are then given the opportunity to hold, receive instruction, and play their first notes on instrument.

The Signal has described the Petting Zoo as “Fun for your budding Mozart” and further related that “There is always a crowd at a petting zoo. Unique and engrossing, petting zoos have a magical quality that sparks curiosity among children. Borders Books and the Santa Clarita Symphony have teamed up to combine the enchantment of a petting zoo with the joy of music – an “Instrument Petting Zoo.” (July 15, 2005)
