SANTA CLARITA SYMPHONY UNVEILS
2006-2007 SEASON’S CONCERTS AND EVENTS

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Santa Clarita Symphony Music Director Robert E. Lawson has unveiled the schedule of concerts and special events for the Symphony’s 2006-2007 season, which is highlighted by three major Masterpiece Concert Series performances by the full 76-piece orchestra at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center.

Santa Clarita’s first and only fully professional symphony will open its new season Saturday, November 11 at 8 p.m., with a festive concert featuring the Orchestra performing Sibelius’ majestic Symphony no. 2 and celebrated soloist Armen Anassian playing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. The second Performing Arts Center event is the Symphony’s inaugural “Family Concert,” starting 3 p.m. Sunday, January 28. Following a “Storytelling” theme, the first in a series of delightful all-ages programs presents the Symphony’s spirited performances of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Arabian Nights fantasy Scheherazade and Tchaikovsky’s perennial favorite Peter and the Wolf. The Symphony’s “Spring Spectaular” event Saturday, April 7 at 8 p.m. brings the Symphony’s noted piano virtuoso Bryan Pezzone back by popular demand for an encore performance. Accompanied by the full orchestra, Pezzone will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no. 4 and his own Variations on Mozart Themes. Pezzone’s program also features Mendelssohn’s Symphony no. 4 (Italian) and the Don Giovanni Overture by Mozart. “We’re not your everyday symphony,” noted John Dow, Symphony Marketing Director. “Maestro Robert Lawson and the Santa Clarita Symphony bring an exciting variety of exquisite, world-class musical experiences to our local community. From the power and majesty of our Masterpiece Series to the elegant melding of fine wine, gourmet food and intimate music of our Bon Appétit dinners; from our “Quartets & Coffee” series to our educational Instrument Petting Zoos for kids at Borders Books & Music in Valencia every first Friday of the month, we have amazing music for music fans of all ages – right here in Santa Clarita.”  Tickets for the Masterpiece Concert Series performances at the Performing Arts Center are $40, $30 and $20.  “The Santa Clarita Symphony is proud to offer, for the first time, season tickets to all of our Masterpiece Series concerts,” Dow said. “We also have exciting packages that combine Masterpiece Concerts with other events including the Bon Appetit dinners.  For further information about season tickets, season packages, and the Symphony’s 2006-2007 season, please visit scsymphony.com or call (661) 284-6044.
